1972 Star Jet Snowmobile




The Humboldt Hotel, located at the top of Cerro El Avila Caracas, Venezuela is an icon in the Venezuelan architecture and a symbol of the capital, thanks to its exotic location and its ultramodern architecture.

The building is at an altitude of 2,105 meters and it is a cylindrical structure that offers a 360 ° view, has a height of 59.5 m with 14 floors with 70 rooms distributed different views of both cities (Caracas-La Guaira).


The building was equipped with dining room, a veranda and adjoining structures where were the social areas of the hotel: rooms, living room, administrative offices, services, and indoor pool. The glass façade was used to help heat the building. The work was completed by two sections of cable cars linking the building with Caracas (Maripérez Station) and the city of La Guaira (Station El Cojo), plus an ice skating rink, multiple restaurants and a casino (the latter under construction).

The complex was started in the government of General Marcos Perez Jimenez and was in charge of the engineers Gustavo Larrazabal Oscar Urreiztieta and ENEC Venezuelan company. The original design of the hotel and station are the architect Tomás Ávila José Sanabria, who was part of the second generation of architects trained abroad Venezuelans and supporters of the international style in our country.

The landscaping was the responsibility of Roberto Burle Marx but because of the short time never took place. The architect designed Alejandro Pietri Pietri Maripérez stations and The Gimp (Macuto). The hotel and the section of Macuto were built by the Venezuelan company Eneco, while the air system was the responsibility of the German firm Heckel, through its representative Georg Jablonski, and Saarbrucken of the German company.
